Many expectations.
Where to begin?

For small and medium enterprises, sustainability can be difficult to interpret. Standards, regulations, and buyer requirements ask different things of a business, and those priorities change over time.

Understanding which information, disclosures, and operational improvements matter can help a business prepare for procurement conversations. The starting point is context.

A clearer connection between your business and what matters.

The Capstone approach considers sustainability in relation to industry, market, buyer, and business goal. It is designed to support procurement readiness, rather than define one universal sustainability score.

  1. Start with context

Understand the business and the sustainability expectations relevant to its commercial setting.

  2. Make the method visible

Keep questions, benchmarks, and weighting traceable to explicit configuration and source material.

  3. Connect insight to action

The intended assessment pairs transparent results with source-grounded guidance on what to improve.

Grounded in research.
Open to scrutiny.

This project began as a Spring 2026 Columbia Climate School capstone for SEE Foundation.

Methodology & source basis

The Capstone baseline preserves questions, answer scales, benchmarks, contextual weighting, and source documents. The planned assessment keeps deterministic calculations separate from AI-generated recommendations. Weights represent expected relevance, not calibrated statistical probabilities.

What has been verified?

Five historical assessment cases were captured from the original application as regression references. They do not establish the accuracy of this rebuild. The assessment engine and its parity checks are not implemented in this preview.

Limitations & interpretation

Relevance depends on the source base and commercial context. This research approach is not a universal sustainability rating or a guarantee of procurement eligibility. This preview keeps example entries in your browser tab’s session and does not produce assessment results.
